What's missing from this picture?
Here’s what what a trained, certified expert would likely tell you to do,
to PROTECT YOURSELF & STAY SAFE
in these potentially-life-threatening situations:
How to defend yourself from a Human Attacker
What a self defense coach would tell you if you were approached by an attacker who suddenly came out of nowhere | How to defend yourself from COVID-19 What a health official would tell you if you came home with a sore throat, and thought it was COVID-19 | How to defend yourself from a FIRE What a firefighter would tell you if you accidentally knocked over a candle on your dining room table | |
USE COMPLETE AVOIDANCE of the potential threat, so you'll never GET to that stage where the first stage of contact can take place AT ALL. | NOT APPLICABLE (it just wouldn’t be realistic to hide in your house for for the rest of your life) | Wear a mask, use hand sanitizer, wash your hands, use social distancing, close down schools & businesses. Let the public know this may become our “new normal” | NOT APPLICABLE
(it just wouldn’t be realistic to avoid fire at all costs, for the rest of your life) |
NEUTRALIZATION & DIFFUSION
IMMEDIATELY! You realize you have a problem that needs to be diffused ASAP. No damage has been done yet, so if you act quickly, you can likely STOP the problem from getting out of control, resulting in potentially irreversible damage or even death | Let the potential attacker know you’re not someone they want to mess with. Walk confidently. If they get too close, activate an alarm. Stay in a lighted area, or someplace where people are present. Notify security. Call someone you know, to let them know where you are, so the potential attacker will go away. Make it obvious they need to BACK OFF. | NOT APPLICABLE (NO solutions offered by most doctors or health officials to stop the virus from spreading, once you've contracted it). Just sit at home, wait it out, and self isolate to protect others from being infected. Pray that if you DO have to go to a hospital, you won't need a ventilator. We need to wait several more months for an experimental vaccine that will allow us to have normal social interactions again | Use water or baking soda to quickly and easily put out the fire. Smother it, throw a tablecloth on the flame, or stomp on it. If your clothes or hair are on fire, then stop, drop, and roll. |
AGGRESSIVE DAMAGE CONTROL The problem is now in FULL SWING | Kick, scream, bite, scratch, use moves you learned in self-defense class, bargain with your attacker | Go to a hospital, Stay for a week or more. Treatments may include going on a ventilator, taking antibiotics, getting IV fluids, plasma or a blood transfusion. Try experimental meds with safety trials that had to be rushed. | Call 911 so the firemen can come with their trucks and put out the fire with huge jet blasts of water. |
